Elmore Leonard Biography
Elmore Leonard was born on the 11th of October in 1925, which was a Sunday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that makes him a Libra, which is one of the Air signs.
Elmore was born in New Orleans, a city home to around 1.5 million people on the great Mississippi River, and is in Louisiana, which is one of the states in the south of the United States of America.
Born to mother Flora Amelia and father Elmore, Snr., little Elmore had a varied upbringing with regard to location because his father worked for General Motors as a site locator, so over a period of around 10 years, he had homes in New Orleans, Louisiana; Dallas, Texas; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Memphis, Tennessee. That’s a lot of moving for a little kid. Finally, in 1934, the family settled down in Detroit, Michigan, which has a metro area population of 4.3 million people and is, of course, the home of General Motors. Apart from his mother and father, Elmore had an older sister called Margaret.
Elmore attended the University of Detroit Jesuit High School, from which he graduated in 1943. He had aspirations to be a US Marine, but unfortunately, his dreams were dashed because…
