Patricia was born in the huge beach resort city of Miami, Florida, in the very south of the United States of America (If you can picture a map of the US, Florida is the 'dangly bit' on the bottom right of the country and Miami is right at the very tip of that). Patricia has two brothers, John and Jim. Her mother was called Marilyn and her father, who was an appellate lawyer, was called Sam.
Everything should have been rosy for little Patricia - a comfortable home in the Sunshine State. Sadly, when only five years old, she was sexually molested by a police officer who had been given the job despite having a criminal record for paedophilia. Thankfully, her brother saved her before things escalated and the man was prosecuted. However, more sadness was to come - her father walked out on the family on Christmas Day…
