Robert B Parker Interview
Watch what is possibly the worst interview in history, as Spenser author Robert B Parker is shown only from behind, while the ‘star’ interviewer is often shown in close-up. As if that isn’t bad enough, the questions of the ‘star’ are perfectly audible, while Robert is miked so badly, his answers are hard to hear. Great job! (Interviews with Robert as so rare, this one had to be included for its historical value.)
Robert B Parker Biography
Robert Brown Parker was born on the 17th of September in 1932, which was a Saturday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that makes him a Virgo, which is one of the Earth signs.
Destined to be the only child to father Carroll and mother Mary, Robert came into the world in Springfield, a city of around 154,000 people, in Massachusetts, which is a state in the northeastern United States of America where the country meets the Atlantic Ocean. Robert attended Colby College, a private liberal arts institution in Waterville, Maine, which has a student body of only around 1,800.
After earning his B.A. in English in 1954, Robert joined the army and served as an infantryman in Korea. Once back home, Robert married Joan on the 26th of August, 1956. Wanting to further his education, he went back to college. He earned an M.A. in English at Boston University.
It was around this time that his sons were born, David in 1959 and Daniel a few years later.
Wanting to write, but needing to earn an income, Robert found various jobs, including work as a technical writer for a company called Raytheon, as an editor for a magazine for Prudential insurance agents, and as a writer creating advertising copy.
None of these ‘writing’ jobs were what Robert truly wanted out of writing, so he decided to take drastic action and…

Why Read the Robert B Parker Spenser Series in Order?
Born in Springfield, though not a neighbor to Homer Simpson, Robert B Parker created such a wonderful and likeable private detective that the character was given his own TV show - Spenser for Hire, with actor Robert Urich playing the role of the Boston private eye Spenser and Avery Brooks playing his best friend Hawk.
The Spenser novels were such an outstanding success that even Robert's death didn't halt the series and it's now being continued by thriller writer Ace Atkins.
Robert also penned a number of other successful series, among them the Virgil Cole and Everett Hitch books, the Sunny Randall books and the Jesse Stone books, the latter proving so popular that they too are being continued by another author - Reed Farrel Coleman.
This Robert B Parker book list not only gives all the Robert B Parker books in chronological order, but will let you see the characters develop and witness events at the correct time, just as Robert intended.
