Tom Clancy Biography
Tom Clancy was born on the 12th of April in 1947, which was a Saturday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that makes him an Aires, which is one of the Fire signs.
Tom was born in Baltimore, the largest city in Maryland, which is a state on the East coast of the United States of America, and - I hope the residents won't mind me pointing this out - just happens to be the oddest shaped state in the whole US. (Seriously, google it. It's like the cartographer was drunk!) Tom was the middle child of three, born to Catherine Clancy, an employee in a department-store credit office, and Thomas Clancy, Sr., a worker at the postal service. His parents weren't rich, but they earned enough to give Tom a comfortable middle-class life. Tom graduated from Catholic Loyola High School and then went on to study at Loyola College, from where he graduated in 1969 with a degree English literature. 1969 was a big year for another reason - he married a woman named Wanda Thomas. After a stint working insurance in Connecticut, he continued his career in Maryland, where he worked in his grandfather-in-law's company before actually buying his own insurance agency in 1980. Why Read the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan Series in Order?
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, in 1947, Tom Clancy went on to become one our the thriller genre's most-loved writers. He was so adept at getting the pulse racing that many of his works weren't just adapted into movies, but into video games, for example, the Splinter Cell books, the Ghost Recon books, and the EndWar books. On top of that, he wrote for a younger audience - the Net Force books - and even turned his hand to reference works - Military Reference books, or simply damn good thrillers - the Op-Center books. However, all of those pale beside his greatest creation - the Jack Ryan books and Jack Ryan Jr books, the former spawning a host of blockbuster movies.
