Sue Grafton Biography

Sue Grafton was born on the 24th of April in 1940, which was a Wednesday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that means she is a Taurus, which is one of the Earth signs.

Sue Grafton born in Louisville, a city with a population of around 613,000 people. It's in Kentucky, a state in the south-central region of the United States of America (and even though the whole world calls it Kentucky, its official title is the Commonwealth of Kentucky). Sue was one of two daughters born to father C.W. and mother Vivian, the other being Ann. C.W. was a lawyer and was known to write detective stories from time to time. Vivian, on the other hand, rarely left the house. Unfortunately, both Sue's parents were alcoholics, which went a long way toward explaining why her mother was housebound. Because of her parents' addiction, Sue was pretty much left to raise herself from being around five years old.

Sue studied at the University of Louisville and Western Kentucky State Teachers College. During most of this period, she was interested in writing and actually began a novel. It was around this time that she met the man who was to be her first husband. She was married with a baby by the time she was 20 years old. On Sue's twentieth birthday, her mother committed suicide…
