Question    Is it safe to shop on your website?

100% safe!

All the links go to Amazon, iBooks, Kobo, Google, or Barnes and Noble, so all sales are handled securely by those highly-respected companies (i.e. not one tiny bit of your personal information passes through this website). (Back to top of page.)

For most links, yes, but not all of them. (Or as Amazon insists I put it: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”)

In case you aren’t aware what affiliate links are, if you click on one and are taken to a store where you buy something, I get a tiny commission (just a few cents). This money helps to fund this site so you can find the books you want to read as quickly and as easily as you can.

Don't panic!

You don't pay any extra when using such links – the price is exactly the same and the commission comes out of the store's profit, NOT your pocket! (Back to top of page.)

Sorry about that.

Unfortunately, both stores and publishers can change a book's details any time they like, which invariably means the link on this site will be broken. Sorry, but I have no control over this.

If you find a link that doesn't go to where it’s supposed to, please help all the other readers using this site by email me using the form at the bottom of this page, stating the author and book title that is causing the issue. Thank you. (Back to top of page.)

Question    Story Event Order or Publication Date Order - what's that about?

Publication Date Order

This lists books according to the date on which they were published.

Story Event Order

This lists books according to when story events occur across the series, so creating the correct timeline, e.g. putting prequels and sequels in the correct places. (This method of ordering is good for quite a lot of series, such as Jack Reacher, Jack Ryan, D.D. Warren, Logan McRae...) (Back to top of page.)

Question    How did you get all your information about so many authors?

Simple – endless months of painstaking research.

Seriously. There are currently around 6,000 books and 40,000 links on this site, all of which have to be found and added manually.

To be honest, it went on so long that I thought it was never going to end! You see, many authors don’t even list their own back catalogue of books, and those that do often don’t mention the correct order. That means the only way to construct a list is the hard way – endlessly clicking on websites like Amazon to find the books and then tirelessly checking and rechecking storylines and publication dates to get the books in the right series and then in the correct order.

It’s exhausting!

If I had to do so much research, does that mean I haven’t read all these books?

The average American reads one book per month, so even reading four times that speed and nailing one book per week, 6,000 books would take roughly 100 years! So, sorry to disappoint, but no, I haven’t read all these books. (Back to top of page.)

Question    Why are there ads for books by Steve N. Lee on the site?

Sales of books keep this website running so it can help you find the titles you want to read. (I’m Steve N. Lee, in case you haven’t guessed.)

A huge amount of resources went into creating the author lists and into building this site, and a considerable amount of time is needed to keep track of all the new book releases, so the site is up-to-date. Without financing, all that would stop and the site would have to close. It’s that simple. (Back to top of page.)

Question    How can I suggest an author for your site?

You can see the quality of the writers I list on my site, so any author will be considered as long as they meet these requirements:

  1. They must have published at least 15 titles.
  2. Most of those titles must be in thriller/mystery genre (not Romantic Suspense, not Cozy, not Sci-Fi, not Fantasy, etc.).
  3. The books must be widely available (i.e. not only on Amazon).
  4. Their books must have a combined total of at least 10,000 5-star ratings on Amazon.

If an author meets those three requirements, send me a message using the form at the bottom of this page and I’ll be happy to check them out. (Back to top of page.)

Question    Will you read my book and help me publish it?

You probably won’t believe this, but I work around 50 hours per week, so while I'd love to help everyone fulfil their dream, I'm sorry but I simply don't have the time.

Plus, purely from a legal standpoint, I can’t – it could potentially leave me open to claims of plagiarism and legal action at some point in the future.

However, there is good news – you don’t need me!

There is an almost endless array of online services that will evaluate, copy edit, or proofread manuscripts. Just google and browse. Reputable ones will answer all your questions and should offer a free sample of their work for you to check their suitability.

Good luck. (Back to top of page.)
