Why Read the Stephen Leather Spider Shephard Books in Order?
Though born in Manchester, a large city in the North of England, most famous for the rock band Oasis and the football team Manchester United, Stephen Leather has lived in China and now calls Thailand his home. It’s no surprise, therefore, that his books reflect his travels, both with regards to his nonfiction, standalone novels, and his series, in particular his Inspector Zhang books and Asian Heat books (in which he left the thriller genre and delved into erotica). However, it’s his two thriller series which have fans crying out for more – the Jack Nightingale series and the Spider Shepherd series.
The Jack Nightingale books feature Jack as a private eye and are supernatural thrillers. The Spider Shepherd books feature ex-SAS soldier Dan Shepherd who is recruited by an organization who can make better use of his skillset. (Spider is Dan's nickname, hence Dan 'Spider' Shepherd.)
