Stephen Paul Coonts was born on the 19th of July in 1946, which was a Friday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that makes him a Cancerian, which is one of the Water signs.
Stephen was born in Morgantown, which is a small town of around 31,000 people in West Virginia, which is a state in the United States of America (if you can picture the Great Lakes, think of the two on the right, West Virginia is below those, about one third of the way down the country [not counting the dangly bit that is Florida]). When Stephen was young, his family moved to Buckhannon, which is still in West Virginia, about 70 miles south of Morgantown. This town is even smaller, with a population of only around 5,600.
Unfortunately, other than the town in which he grew up, very little has been made public about Stephen's early life. We catch up with him when he'd left high school and decided to further his education. To do so, he enrolled at West Virginia University, which is a decent sized institution with a student body of around 29,000. It's main campus is in Morgantown, where Stephen was born, though it has other facilities in Keyser and Montgomery, both in West Virginia. At university, Stephen studied political science. He graduated in 1968.
