Stieg Larsson Biography
Stieg Larsson was born on the 15th of August in 1954, which was a Sunday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that makes him a Leo, which is one of the Fire signs.
Stieg was born in the small mining city of Skelleftea, which has a population of around 32,000 and is in the county of Vasterbotten in Sweden. This place is so far north that it has a subarctic climate, meaning it has ‘luke warm’ summers, i.e. about 20 degrees centigrade, and bitterly cold winters when the temperature only manages to creep up to around an average of -13 degrees. Not surprisingly, one of its main claims to fame is its ice hockey team Skelleftea AIK.
Unfortunately for Stieg, he was born into a very poor family. The situation was worsened by the fact that his father Erland was suffering from arsenic poisoning and shortly after Stieg’s birth, had to resign from his job at a local smelting plant. The family had no option but to move away from Skelleftea, choosing to relocate to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden (and a very scenic city it is too – the city stretches across 14 islands that are dotted about Lake Malaren). Why Read the Stieg Larsson Millennium Trilogy in Order?
Sadly, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo author Stieg Larsson was only 50 years old when he died. Even more sadly, he never new the fame his books brought him as his Millennium trilogy was published posthumously, so only gaining worldwide acclaim after his death - the reason there is no video available of him.
Stieg did have plans to extend the Millennium Trilogy beyond the three books published under his name and in fact had unfinished manuscripts and outlines to turn it into a full series. Both luckily and unluckily, more books are being released to continue his legacy, however, they come from a different writer who doesn't have access to this unpublished work due to family wrangles. So while fans may never know what Stieg had in store for Lisbeth Salander, at least the continuing stories bring them new adventures.
This Stieg Larsson book list not only gives all the Stieg Larsson books in chronological order, but will let you see the characters develop and witness events at the correct time, just as Stieg intended.
So, if you've ever wondered about the Stieg Larsson trilogy order, or fancied reading the Millennium series in full, new books and all, here's everything you need.
