Nelson DeMille Biography

Nelson DeMille was born on the 23^rd of August in 1943, which was a Monday. For those readers interested in all things astrological, that makes him a Virgo, which is one of the Earth signs.

Born to father Huron, who was Canadian, and mother Antonia, Nelson came into the world in Queens, New York City, which is one of the five boroughs that make up the city and is home to approaching 2.5 million people. It is separated from Manhattan by the East River and has an Atlantic Ocean coastline.

When he was a young child, the family moved from Queens to Long Island. (Though Queens is technically actually on Long Island, most New Yorkers mean the Nassau–Suffolk county area when referring to Long Island, which is further northeast.) Once there, Nelson attended Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School, which is in the hamlet of Elmont, Long Island, in Nassau County, and which is a decent sized school with around 1700 students. When not learning in the classroom, he was quite sporty and liked to play football and run track. And when not in school, he was not averse to having a bet on the horses at Belmont Park race track.

Nelson finished high school around 1962 and enrolled at Hofstra University, which is also on Long Island and is the island’s largest private college with a student body of around 12,000.
