Michael Connelly was born on the 21st of July in 1956, which was a Saturday. For those readers interested in all things astrologically, that means his star sign is Cancer, which is one of the Water signs.
Michael was the second child born to a property developer father, also known as Michael, and a homemaker mother who was named Mary (who had a fondness for crime fiction, hint, hint). He has four siblings. The family lived in Philadelphia, a large city with a population of over 1.5 million (six million in the metro area) and which is located in Pennsylvania, a state in the United States of America.
When Michael was 12 years old, the family moved to Fort Lauderdale, a city of around 166,000 people in Florida (Florida is the 'dangly bit' on the bottom right of the US. [You'll be surprised to learn that I did not study to be a cartographer, so 'dangly bit' is not a technical term]). In Florida, Michael attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In his late teens, he had a job as a dishwasher and drove a beat-up Volkswagen.
